Important Notice for Subscribing Old Edwardians' Association (OEA) Members

17 Nov 2025
KES News

We wish to notify our community that the original Old Edwardians' Association (OEA), predecessor to the School’s Development Office, is in the process of closing.

For many years the organisation looked after all alumni activity at King Edward’s, hosting some fantastic events and fostering connections between Old Edwardians, captured in the gallery below. However, in recent years the organisation’s activity has slowly dwindled and the OEA’s signatories have agreed to officially draw it to a close.

For nearly 20 years, alumni activities have been managed in house by the School’s Development Office, including the publishing of the OE magazine, the organisation of sports and social events and the maintenance of the OE database. Nowadays, membership of the School’s alumni network is offered to all former pupils, free of charge, which has continued the fantastic work originally managed by the OEA.

With this in mind, and in keeping with the original aims and articles of the OEA constitution, the OEA signatories intend to donate the funds accrued by the OEA to the School’s Bursary Fund. Both the School and the OEA representatives feel this reflects the aims of our School’s founder, William Capon, to offer education to pupils from a lower-income background in Southampton.

If you do still have a small annual payment being made to the OEA, this will be cancelled at the point the organisation formally closes. If you have any queries about these changes, please feel free to contact Richard Wilson, Director of Development on rjwilson@kes.school or by calling 023 80 704561.

The School would like to thank each and every one of the members of the OEA for their longstanding support of King Edward’s and for helping to build the alumni community into the vibrant and supportive community that it is today.
