Darren (KES 19-26 )
Studying Chemistry at Nottingham University

In 2019, when I heard I would be coming to my dream school, I was over the moon. I could not believe it - all my hard work and prayers had come to fruition, and I was going to KES. I can fully say I do not regret that decision one bit. I have thoroughly enjoyed my time here, all the way from Year 7 through to the Upper Sixth.

I have made countless memories and very worthwhile and fulfilling friends. The experiences and co-curricular activities I have taken part in have shaped me as a person. I feel very mature now, and also ready to take on whatever life throws at me next. In particular, I have enjoyed the teaching, the sports, and the music and creative arts aspects of KES; all testament to the calibre of nurture and commitment that KES instils in you from day one.

Looking back on my time here, I can say with utmost conviction that the bursary has made a huge difference to me. Without it, I probably would have furthered my education elsewhere, and I would be a completely different person. The bursary has allowed me to make the most out of such a wonderful opportunity, and I am forever grateful that donors are generous enough to invest in our school and the futures of pupils like me.

I am now really looking forward to studying Chemistry at the University of Nottingham. My dream is that one day, I can give back to KES and the community that has done so much for me. Thank you to anyone who has made a gift to fund bursaries at KES, because it allows everybody to be given the same opportunity, and opens our eyes to a whole new world.
