Before coming to KES I was at a state school and, to be honest, I was looking forward to going to my local Sixth Form college with my friends. However, my parents thought that KES was the right place for me and so, when I was offered a bursary place, it seemed the natural path to take. Within weeks, I knew that it was the right decision and I’ve never looked back.
Transitioning to a new school in Sixth Form had its challenges to begin with. My peers, who had been at KES for their GCSEs, had a better work ethic and knew the expectations in terms of homework which was all new to me. However, my teachers and my tutor were all so helpful that I quickly adapted and learnt to manage my time more efficiently. I made friends easily and the atmosphere was always welcoming.
From the outset, the School had a strong focus on HE pathways and, having gained A Levels in Spanish, Politics and English Literature, I am now going on to university to study Spanish with International Relations which includes a year living abroad.
Without the support of the bursary programme I would definitely not have been able to attend the School and I would encourage anyone to apply for a bursary place. I am truly grateful to those donors who have enabled me to follow this pathway. KES has really helped me to achieve my very best.
