Yet again it was a scorcher of a day for this year's OE Sports Festival with the event giving OEs of all ages the chance to take part in cricket, hockey and netball matches against the school teams.
The OEs got off to a flying start in the women's cricket, winning the match by 47 runs. This was followed by a 4-4 scoreline in the men's hockey with the OEs coming back from behind to level. After lunch the netballers played well, drawing the second quarter and winning the last one, but ultimately succumbing to the school side, 34-22. The OE women's hockey players fought hard but were beaten 3-1 by the KES girls in a fast-paced match, before the sporting fixtures ended with the men's cricket. The game saw some beautiful catches and wickets but culminated in a win for the KES side by 3 wickets.
Rounded off by a barbecue and trophy presentations, the festival was a great chance to enjoy some good quality sport and catch up with old friends. Thank you to everyone who came along either to play or watch.
Next year's event is already in the calendar and will be held on Saturday 3rd July.
