Helen Budd née Carter (KES 97-03) a former pupil of both KES Senior and KES Prep is currently competing in the Tier 1 World Masters European Hockey Championships from the 19th-29th June 2025, in Valencia. Helen has been selected as part of an invitational international Alliance squad, bringing together talented players from across the world to compete against national representative sides at international level.

Helen began her hockey journey at KES Prep (formerly Stroud) as a 7 year old, but attributes her real love of the game to her time at KES Senior and hasn’t put her hockey stick down since. As well as being a huge netball enthusiast, tennis player/coach and a keen skier and slalom racer, Helen has represented Hampshire hockey, Cardiff University 1st Team, Welsh Universities at the British University Games and the regional South of England o35s. She currently plays at Trojans hockey club.

Helen said, “The spirit of masters is alive and well and an incredibly special experience, demonstrating the expansiveness of the hockey family worldwide. I am incredibly lucky to have been given the opportunity.”

Helen currently has 2 children attending KES Prep meaning her connection with the school now spans multi generations.
