Inaugural OE Sport Festival

A great day was had by all at the inaugural OE sport festival on 28th June at KES!  The day combined men's and women's hockey matches, women's netball and a nail-biting men's cricket match bringing together OEs from all year groups to face teams from the school.

The OE men's hockey side got off to a good start with a 5-4 win over the KES team which included a guest appearance from Mr Crichton.  Tim Fewtrell (KES 03-10) had to forego his place on the OE team to represent the school as acting Head of Sixth Form but it was a closely fought game with both sides leading at times. The OEs fielded both A and B teams in the women's netball but the school teams' experience at playing together saw them secure wins in both matches.  The OE women's hockey team faced blistering afternoon heat on the astro but, despite some experienced players, yielded to the younger KES side with the school securing a convincing 10-1 win.  The afternoon of fixtures ended with the men's cricket.  Some wonderful displays of batting and bowling from the OE players saw the KES side chasing down 109 runs.  With the last ball, they needed 2 runs to win but in a great display of OE fielding, the day ended on a draw.

Spectators, staff and players joined together for the cup presentations and a barbecue to round off what was a fantastic day of sport and socialising.  Thank you to Jacob Fay (KES 11-18) and Alex Morgan (KES 94-01) for all their hard work in putting together the OE teams.
