Rory Penrose (KES 16-21)

19 Nov 2025
OE Updates

Rory Penrose (KES 16-21) was back at KES this week to speak to the School’s hockey players and athletes.  Rory attended both KES Prep and KES Senior before progressing to Loughborough University.  He spoke candidly about his hockey journey to date, including his time playing for the Junior and U21 GB teams through to his first cap for the Seniors earlier this year.  He explained the role of good nutrition in keeping his body at peak performance level and underlined the importance of not allowing an end goal (in his case reaching the Olympics) to overshadow the enjoyment of playing the game.  Currently living and playing professional hockey in Germany, Rory is also an advocate of yoga and breathwork for optimising performance, training and overall wellbeing.  He will soon be starting a further role, alongside his hockey playing, with company Optima Performance - a company that brings together expert knowledge and hands-on experience to develop proven breathwork and mindset practices that empower lasting athletic performance.
