Marc Heighway (KES 87-94) has been researching stories behind familiar places in the New Forest, where he lives, for many years, with particular reference to the Second World War and how this tranformed the landscape. 

He has recently published a new history book entitled, 'Exbury's War' about the Exbury estate's requisition and activity during wartime. During the summer, Marc also featured on a BBC Sounds podcast talking about the New Forest's WW2 airfields.  This can be listened to HERE. 

Aiming to tell clear, accurate stories that connect our landscape with the people who once lived and worked there, Marc regularly gives talks at museums, festivals, historical societies, community groups, aviation groups, and schools.
