Our thanks to Oliver Mcquitty (KES 10-15), Curtis Crowley (KES 08-15) and Eilidh Williams (KES 12-19) who all revisited the School this week to talk to our Upper School students about the benefits of studying a foreign language.
Oliver is Product Director at POPSA, Eilidh is a doctor at Winchester Hospital and Curtis works as Judicial Assistant at the Court of Appeal with a view to becoming a barrister. All studied a modern foreign language at A Level at KES.
It was fascinating to hear them speak about their very different careers which, whilst not directly related to their language studies, all rely on excellent communication skills within each of the different contexts. They extolled the benefits of the many transferable skills that learning a language provides, including how this prepares you to think on your feet, communicate clearly and persuasively, and the power of being able to engage with someone in their own mother tongue.
